Chapter Thirteen

Chips and Charley met together the next day and described their dreams to each other.
"Do you think that they were special messages to us?" asked Charley. "Maybe it was like the comet being a special message to William."
"What do you mean?" asked Chips.
"When William saw the comet, he knew what he had to do with his life. Maybe our dreams are telling us what is important for us."
"All they seemed to be saying was how important it was for us to come back to home. That's not very exciting. William goes to school. Rocky and Rhonda wander off the explore the world, and we stay home," Chips complained.
"But our home might be bigger than we think. Perhaps the beautiful section of the forest is part of it too."
"I guess you could say so."
"We certainly are drawn towards it."
"Yes, that's because we like the deer family, and it is so nice there."
"But maybe there is more. Maybe there is some purpose or meaning there too."
Chips laughed. "Oh, Charley. You think so strangely sometimes. But you know. You might be right. How can we find out what this all means?"
"I am not sure."
"Hey, I know. Spirit talked to me in my dream about how that free feeling could be had back on earth. Let's try to find her and see what she thinks."
"She might think it is strange, since she was not really there to tell you that. It was a dream after all."
"No," said Chips. "Spirit wouldn't think something like was strange. She doesn't think like that. I bet she would understand."
"You might be right. Let's go find her."
After checking with Chips' mom, they hopped to the beautiful part of the forest. They realized how hard it would be to find Spirit. She could be anywhere! But somehow they had a hunch they would find her. It made sense in some strange way."
Sure enough in patch of white and yellow daffodils, they found Spirit dancing with the bees. When she saw Chips and Charley, she flew over to them.
"Hello you two. Isn't it a lovely day?" she asked.
Chips smiled, "Yes, we came to ask you a question."
He described his dream to Spirit. At the end, he asked her if she knew what was might mean.
"Look around you," she laughed. "Everything and everyone is dancing. You must join the dance. Then you will find that wonderful free feeling again."
"But we cannot fly like you," said Chips.
"Fly like yourself, silly."
Chips laughed.
Spirit continued, "Use your imagination, find a fountain..."
"What fountain?" Chips asked, but Spirit had already flown away.
Charley stated, "I remember when we first met Spirit. She sang about a fountain where animals would meet. She said it was peaceful and all the animals were happy there."
"Yes, we listened to her and we became lost. Now I feel lost again. Why does she have to be so mysterious?" Chips complained.
"How will we find the fountain? Where would we go to start looking for it?"
"Maybe the deer family knows where it is," suggested Chips.
"Yes, I think they would. We are not too far from where they live. Let's go ask them."
When they arrived at the deer's house, they found the mother deer outside helping some neighboring chipmunks build new nest. She was happy to see Chips and Charley."
Chips and Charley helped too. When they were finished, Chips described his and Charley's dreams and mentioned what Spirit had said. He explained that they both had come to ask how to get to the fountain.
"You have to be ready to find the fountain," she explained. "If you are not ready it is nowhere. If you are its everywhere."
"But..." Chips started, but the deer just smiled. He was frustrated with her answer, but he knew he would not get anymore information.
Charley asked, "Can you at least tell us how we can be ready?"
She smile, "I can show you a beginning."
She pointed a the chipmunk's old nest to a tree nearby that had been crushed.
"Start with this."
"Who did that?" asked Chips.
As they looked they noticed a big footprint that showed it been stepped upon. They recognized the footprint instantly and realized they needed to once again find the mysterious Gubazah Monster.
